About Me
Hi! I’m Barbara, a passionate mixed-methods researcher and user experience (UX) specialist passionate about advancing equity and human-centered design in public service and technology.
With a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington and over a decade of experience in evaluation, analytics, and stakeholder engagement, I bring a unique blend of data-driven insight and empathy to every project I lead
My career has centered on making complex systems more accessible and effective for everyone, whether it’s designing new outreach research strategies, leading community-based participatory research, or conducting usability testing to improve digital products.
I thrive on translating research into actionable strategies that drive real-world impact, particularly for underrepresented and marginalized communities.
I am driven by curiosity, collaboration, and a deep belief that well-designed research can bridge gaps between people, programs, and policy. Whether I’m working with public agencies, nonprofits, or tech teams, my goal is to create solutions that are not only effective, but also equitable and sustainable.
If you’re interested in partnering to create meaningful change through research, design, or analytics, I’d love to connect.
Key strengths I bring to my work include:
User Experience Research: Skilled in conducting in-depth interviews, usability testing, and ethnographic methods to uncover user needs and pain points, with a focus on translating insights into actionable improvements for diverse communities.
Data-Driven Human-Centered Solutions: Experienced in designing and implementing innovative data visualization tools and analytics dashboards that make complex housing and social data accessible and actionable, supporting evidence-based decision-making-especially for underrepresented groups.
Equity-Focused Evaluation: Committed to justice-based research and evaluation, leading community-based participatory research (CBPR) and equity-focused outreach to ensure inclusive engagement and amplify the voices of marginalized populations throughout the research and design process.
Project Management: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage large-scale research initiatives, and deliver results in fast-paced, mission-driven environments, consistently integrating research insights into program development and continuous improvement.
Policy & Demographic Analysis: Proficient in synthesizing complex policy, demographic, and socioeconomic data to inform actionable recommendations for public officials, advocacy coalitions, and community stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Adept at building collaborative partnerships with government, nonprofit, and community organizations, and at presenting research findings to influence policy and practice at regional and national levels.
